Arizona Living Guide
Wow, I can’t believe we’ve officially lived in Arizona for four months! These past 4 months have flown by and I’m honestly shocked at how quickly Arizona already feels like home. We truly love it here, so much so that we listed our Danville house for sale. I talk more about that in this Instagram highlight. I pulled together everything we are loving in this Arizona Living Guide!
Between doing projects around the house, keeping up with the kids, and socializing with new friends, Jas and I have managed to still find time to explore. So I wanted to put together a list of some of our favorite places we’ve been and things we’ve done since moving here.
Let’s start with food! We’re lucky enough to live close to so many of the great food spots that Gilbert has to offer and I am so grateful for that. Here are some of our favorites:
Culinary Dropout – Such a fun atmosphere for the family because they have a lawn space with games. Get the pretzel bites!
Joyride Taco House – Great tacos and margaritas! They have happy hour on weekdays and Taco Tuesday where you can get $2.50 tacos and $6 margs.
OHSO Brewery – A dog-friendly, local brewery with great food!
Postino – Everyone talks about Postino being a great spot, but it really is! Their bruschetta boards are the main draw. There are so many options to choose from and they’re soooo good!
Next is events! I can’t believe how much there is to do in and around Gilbert. I feel like there is always an event of some sort going on and we always want to check them out.
Barrett Jackson Car Show – This happens in January. It’s a huge auto show with so many cool cars.
Waste Management Phoenix Open – The fun thing about this is that most people who go, go to hang out. So even though we aren’t huge golf fans, we still had so much fun! And they have concerts at night!
Spring Training – Right before baseball season starts, a bunch of teams have their spring training here in Arizona. There’s a few places where you can go and watch spring training games with the fam.
Country Thunder – This is a country music festival, kind of like Stagecoach! We went for two nights and had so much fun!
On top of events, there are always activities and things to do with the kids. And one of the best parts about where we live is getting to take them to all the nearby places to explore.
Usery Mountain Regional Park – This is such a cool park! We hiked the Merkle Trail with the kids and it was easy enough for them to walk. Hunt was really hoping to see a rattlesnake, but I’m honestly kind of glad we didn’t haha!
Queen Creek Olive Mill – The food here is so good! We got basically everything on the seasonal menu and devoured it all!
Phoenix Zoo – The kids loved the Phoenix Zoo, and so did I!
Carl’s Damaged Pet Warehouse – Basically this is a home for pets that are no longer wanted, which is so sad, but they are living happy lives with Carl. Of course Sav was in heaven! We saw pigs, chickens, goats, mini cows, and more and you get to feed them too!
Horseback riding – Jas took me for my birthday and it was just the best thing ever!
Dolly Steamboat Ride – One of my favorite things we’ve done since moving here was this steamboat ride! It takes you sightseeing around Canyon Lake. On board is a snack bar where you can get drinks and snacks.
Goldfield Ghost Town – We stumbled across Goldfield on our way back from Canyon lake. It’s a cute old mining town, and now they do fun shoot outs and a train and other fun stuff for the kids.
I feel like I could go on and on about all of the things we’ve done since we’ve moved, because we’ve done SO much! But hopefully this will give you some ideas if you’re looking to visit Gilbert, or if you already live here and want to find new things to do. I will add onto this Arizona living guide as I find new spots – anything we MUST try?
