I want to preface this blog post by saying I know certain skin treatments aren’t for everyone. To each their own, however, entering into my thirties this year has lead me to experiment with some treatments to keep my face looking youthful and glowing! I also want to mention that I am not a doctor, so if you have any questions about any of these treatments, I would suggest consulting with your doctor. This blog is just my personal experience and opinion!
I recently had the pleasure of getting my first ever HydraFacial, Botox, and Filler by Dr. Ronan at Blackhawk Plastic Surgery & MedSpa and I wanted to fill you all in on my experience and exactly what those treatments are if you’re not already aware and what I thought about them!
HydraFacial
Lets start with the HydraFacial. I think if I had to chose one thing that was my absolute favorite, it would be this! Its been almost a month since I got my hydra facial and my skin STILL feels so much more hydrated than it was prior to going in. It’s more than a basic facial, but less than a laser treatment if that makes sense. Theres also ZERO downtime which I absolutely love. In fact, its actually recommended to do right before an event (like a wedding!) to get that extra glow!

Skin Texture
Brown Spots
Enlarged Pores and even acne
The thirty minute treatment starts with a vacuum like machine that is sucking all the bad stuff that hides in your pores! After your face is clean and prepped, they start with the intensive serums to hydrate you skin. It truly feels amazing and when it was over, my face felt softer and more hydrated then ever! My favorite part was at the end seeing everything that came out of my pores! I can’t wait to get another soon!
Next up, Botox!
I’ m sure you’ve all heard of Botox, but in case you haven’t, Botox is used cosmetically to remove wrinkles by temporarily paralyzing muscles.
I chose to get Botox in my frown lines and I love how it turned out! How long does it last, you ask? Everyone is different but I think its safe to say approximately three to six months on average. The lines tend to appear less severe with time because the muscles are shrinking. Another heads up when getting botox, it takes about a week to see the results! You won’t notice anything at first and then all of a sudden the line is completely gone!
A lot of you asked me if it hurt! Answer: not at all! The needles used for the injection are super small, so you can barely feel it to be honest. The only thing that weirded me out is you can hear a little bit of “crackling” as they’re doing it but thats totally normal and due to the needle going through the tissue. Again, doesn’t hurt but know that this is something that can be expected! Your doctor should also give you a cold pack for the areas too to help with pain/bruising/etc!
Last But Not Least, Filler!
I put a small amount of Filler in my upper cheeks to help with my smile lines and just give that area a slight lift/ put volume back where it is supposed to be. With aging and having kids and gaining and losing weight, the fullness around my cheekbones started to slightly get worse and I just wanted to lift things back to where they were! I noticed a loss of volume and seemed to always look tired (I probably am!) The filler part is what I was most nervous about because I’m sure you’ve all seen people that went overboard on this. Dr. Ronan was conservative and knew I wanted the most natural results and that is exactly what he delivered! I’m so happy with how it looks and the staff was amazing talking me through exactly what I wanted and how to achieve those results.

I also love the fact that they have a Beauty membership which allows you to pay monthly like you would for a gym membership, instead of coming up with one lump sum every time you have to go in. You also get a discount on your services for being a member! Next time I will try and remember to do some before and afters for you all.
