San Diego Guide
We had the B E S T trip to San Diego a few weeks ago! So I pulled together this San Diego Guide to share all of our fave spots!
We soaked up some serious sun and the kids loved being poolside 24/7! We will for sure be back to stay again!
We stayed at Town and Country San Diego and we loved it! The hotel has been open since the 50s but they just recently completed renovations and now it has the cutest mid century modern vibes. It was seriously so dang cute! The lobby area was so open with a lot of seating and the big pool area with a giant slide had the kids super excited. It was also so pretty at night too with the pool lit up and fire pits where you could hang out and make s’mores.
They gave me a code to share with you: use LOLOWEBB for 20% off!
Our room had a pretty big patio with seating and overlooked the whole pool area. The room had a little kitchen area and sitting area on one side and the beds were on the other with two bathrooms which was nice.
Town and Country San Diego is only a 2 minute walk from Fashion Valley which is a cute outdoor mall and a must for any Guide to San Diego. So we walked over there to do a little shopping!
We had breakfast at the hotel the next morning! All of the pastries looked so good! And if you stay at Town and Country, be sure to get the oat milk dulce latte from the MRKT. It’s sooo good!
When we finally left the room the first day, we headed to Coronado Island. It’s only about 15 minutes away from the hotel, but with 3 kids it took like 7 hours, haha. Jason’s favorite part about this area is all the helicopters and jets that fly over. But for the kids, the best part of Coronado is that you can find all of the little sea creatures like crabs and anemones between the rocks. Savannah and Hunter would’ve stayed here all day if we let them.
For lunch we got some awesome tacos, but somebody (baby Sums) is in the grabbing phase and grabbed my entire plate of tacos and threw it in the sand. Luckily they made me another plate!
The next day we started off with some cabana and pool time at the hotel. The cabana was so cute! It had comfy seating, a little fridge, and we got a beautiful fruit bowl.
And then later in the day we went to La Jolla Cove looking for sea lions. So many of you suggested Children’s Pool and La Jolla Cove this. And when we got there, people were literally swimming with sea lions and a bunch were lying on the rocks.
When we went down to the water we were able to get really close to a little sea lion. It’s so crazy how they just sit and hang with humans like they are little puppies. We checked out The Cave Store and when you go down into it, it opens up to a big viewing deck inside of a cove and it has a beautiful view of the ocean.
It was such a cool experience getting to be so close to the sea lions! Definitely a must do on our Guide to San Diego if you’re visiting!
Also, for those concerned, there are people working there making sure everyone is being respectful to the sea lions and not bothering them in their space. They literally swim right up to where you are and even swim on the shore where people are hanging out. Sooo in my opinion, they seem pretty happy and not bothered. I feel like if they didn’t like people they would choose another place to hang out?
I know everyone is going to have opinions about this, but to me, it was the coolest thing and again, everyone was totally respectful of them and they seemed super happy and playful. I also got some great messages from a few followers that live in San Diego who said the sea lions are really well-protected and love to chill with humans like they’re family. So that was nice to hear!
After The Cave Store, we went back to the cove because the kids wanted to swim more and find more crabs.
Then we went back to the hotel and made reservations at Arlo, which is their fancier on-site dining option. The menu was soooo good! To start we got the goat cheese raviolis and the floating heirloom veggies.
The presentation was so cool! Next was grilled octopus and the chilled soup trio. Hunter even tried a little piece of octopus! He said it tasted like chicken haha! Lastly I got scallops and salmon and Jason got short ribs and prawns. And then we got the fancy s’mores for dessert. I really thought someone was going to have to wheel me out of there after all of that food!
And of course, any Guide to San Diego must have Donut Bar. We headed to Donut Bar the next day which some of you recommended. Unpopular opinion, but I actually don’t really like donuts. Donut Bar had such cute donuts though and the kids loved the designs.
We went to the USS midway to look around and then we decided to hop on a ferry to Coronado to get on the water.
Afterwards we went to Mission Beach where there was a normal park and then Belmont Park which is like a boardwalk with rides and stuff. It was like a mini carnival! So we did some beach time first and then got food at Cannonball, which is one of the restaurants recommended by many followers. I also got a lot of recommendations for Draft, The Mission, and Luigis.
Then Jason said it’s not a San Diego trip until we go down the boardwalk! So I put on my rollerblades, Jas got on the longboard, Sav took her scooter, and Hunt sat in his little scooter which ended up being pushed along in front of the stroller so he didn’t have to do any work.
To finish up the night, we went to Matuta Gardner Playground and it was so fun! There was so much for the kids to play on.
Our wagon: the Veer Wagon. It’s the best, especially for beach trips. It folds up super easy and has an attachment for the car seat.
In case you missed our Hawaii faves, sharing them all here!
